Yup, we Indians got something to be pride now. First it is in the name of Common Wealth Games. Now in the name of some flats/apartments build in the name of war widows............ A billion people nation lagging behind sports is good in bribe for building stadiums, games village etc etc............. Then we too are not bad in exploiting in the name of war. Why cant something done to the widows of Kargil and get some bucks from that ? Whoever be the master mind in it, let us bow for that brilliant idea. The BJP/RSS is barking. Never mind. Hope you remember the Coffin scam. They didnt get much from it. When the Congress earns more, how can the BJP sit idle? They sure say something foul in the Adarsh Society scam. Never mind. Go on. Why cant the Government build new housing societies in the name of Policemen killed in the attacks of Terrorists/Moists etc etc... Plenty of bucks and image building.............
Sure the Government will appoint an enquiry commission with their own men in it. In the name of enquiry, the fellow chap can eat something from our treasury and when the result come after some decades, people will get another scam for chewing. That is the fate of our country. A billion dream for a billion people. Nice thing.
Be an Indian, be proud to be an Adarsh Indian............

Kabuliwala, Oh... Kabuliwala.....
During my school days, the only entertainment was Doordharsan's two channels; the National one and Regional one. Telecasting was not like that of today's schedule. Both channels were not of 24 hours continuously telecasting the programmes. Yet we wait for the programmes without any haste because as said earlier, it was the only entertainment channel at that time ! Kids of todays generation will laugh while reading this.
Every Sunday afternoon, the National channel will telecast a regional language feature film. Viewers show the patience to view that without having a knowledge in that language; whether it is Punjabi or Tamil; Assamese or Malayalam; Bengali or Kashmiri.... having to watch a film is more important than to knowing the language for most of us. Thanks for the subtitle too which help the literate to translate the same to their co-viewers. TAM rating was not heard at that time. Yet these films have a good viewership rating.
One of the films that still in my mind is Tagore's famous story ; KABULIWALA. I still remember the words of little Mini calling her huge, tall Afgan friend : " Kabuliwala, Oh, Kabuliwala !! ". Time had changed very very lot. From one single channel, my living room is now flooded with more than 100 channels to view. Yet I love and have some nostalgic feeling about that old days where there is only one channel to view and the patience to view it without any complaints.
Sure, the present revolution in channel flooding will never quench generations like me. I think.

New Scope in Kerala Tourism
Tourism is one of the best industry in the world. And many nations earn a good revenue from it. Kerala, a small state in India; had already been selected by many renowned agencies as one of the best tourist spot in the world map. But is that enough? From mere sight seeing, tourism had developed a lot in many countries like Medical Tourism, etc etc....
Now the turn is for the Kerala Government. There are two good areas that the local Government promote. The first one is Accident view Tourism. This is nothing more than viewing the live scenes of an Accident. Whether it is a motor accident, or a building collapse; the tourist can see residents queueing in with their mobile phone cameras recording it live and blocking the police, fire force and the rescue workers in many way so as to enjoy and make the incident more worse and worse to make out the best from the above scenes. Same is the case when a building collapsed and those caught were crying for help were falling under deaf ears. See, is this a good scope for a new type of Tourism ?
The Second one is Peeping Tourism. Kerala is the first State in India to acquire 100 % Literacy. That is only in books, I think. Moreover the people of this small state are highly educated, a hard believer in white/blue collar jobs etc etc... Now they enjoy by peeping into others privacy. Whether it is in Hotels, Restauarants, Parks, Public Places, Changing rooms ...... the list is endless. You can expect a peeping camera any where in any form. In Kerala, we don't care anybody's privacy. If you like this type of privacy invaders, then please visit this small piece of land. We call this land as GODS OWN COUNTRY .
So happy tourism. Please visit here and enjoy the new trends in tourism.

Some Tips - 1
On my last post, I promised to tell you some tips which I had learnt from my own experience in constructing a house. Moreover, experience makes a man perfect.
I am writing this with the common or middle class people in mind and not for the elite ones who have enough bucks in their wallet. O.K ?
First of all, you must have a clear plan about the new house which you are going to build and a good budget. These two will minimise some tension, and don't deviate from this once the work starts. You know, people try to advice you in many ways when you start constructing a house. Like, "Mr. X built a house in this way; Mr. Y built in that way.... etc.... etc....... " . Please ignore these people's advices as it prove nothing but only ruin our pocket and make our life a burden.
Next, before starting the construction, try to visit some newly built house. Ask the house owners the pros and cons; where can you cut the budget etc.... etc..... Never try to mimic others. "If Mr. X can do it like that way in his house, why cant I too ? " will sure make you a real ass. So know what you want in your house. Remember, we are building a house for us to live and not for others to see. If this is sharply in your mind, then no hurdles will affect you.
Try to keep your budget in every way. Avoid extra works, once the work starts. The workers, engineer, and the contractor will try to push you to pump some funds for extra works. Remember they will get commission from the shops where you purchase these extra fitting work items.
So, today this is enough. The rest will follow in my next blogs. Till next.
Happy days and happy building.

A Promise that had come True.....

Every body had some New Year resolutions in their life. And the truth is; most of them never try to keep it ....................... This New Year, I gave my wife and son a word that I can keep in my life. A house built on our own resources............. The house warming is on December 31, 2009. Yeah, we celeberate this New Year on our new house.
For a Government Employee like me, building a house means not only a dream, but also a lot of tension. When the work starts, hurdles appear in many ways. May it is in the form of sand shortage, or labourers are not working properly, etc, etc................
We tell our dreams to the Contractor. How to make addition/deletion on this part, that part etc, etc..... But when he tried his own ways to do the job making our dreams shatter; tension and shuffle arises between me and the contractor. ...... Hope the same situation for you pals too............. Yet I manage to complete our house.................. A good accomplishment and a gift to my family..............
Dont think I just stop with this. I will build one more house, if my budget allows I will build another after that........... Dont think I am mad. Treat it as a hobby.
So for those who are building , and who are wishing to build a house; I will give some advice in my next blogs.
Till that, happy days and happy moments wishing to each and every one............
