Russia..........Russia...........

Yesterday, while jumping from one channel to another, a channel named "Russia Today" attracted my attention. It arouse some fine memories to me. For a kid who had read a lot about the former U.S.S.R and its stories during childhood day; Russia still haunts me.

The snow filled land, white skin coloured people; bread and potatoes; Lenin;Yuri Gagarin; the war against Nzasis; former U.S.S.R's Supremacy in Science, Technology, War, Culture etc etc....... The list is endless.

India is in good book of Kremlin at those days. I think the same now too. As a staunch Communist, my father always bring books of Russian origin of Pravda etc which is been translated to many Indian languages. I got the chance to read many Malayalam books at that time, which shaped a good character in me and those millions of other kids who got a chance to read it.

Cultural/Student exchange between two countries was common in those days. Many Indians went there for higher studies. One of my friends elder sister got her M.B.B.S Degree from U.S.S.R and now she is practising successfully in California.

The Russian dominance is clearly seen in the Sports sector too. Look at the Moscow Olympics too. My house had a calender commemorating the Olympics and it adorn my room for many years.

In the literary field too U.S.S.R had its own genius. Leo Tolstoy, Dastyevski, Pushkin etc etc........ The Russian fables is still a grace to kids all over the world.

The present situation of Russia is pathetic. After the cold war, it lost all its glory. Now it is filled with unemployment, poverty, large scale crime and mafia..........

Yet I love this land. And it is my dream to visit there once. I am sure my dream will come true. Till then, bye........................
